PETITION: Stop the International Armoured Vehicles arms fair

We, the undersigned, demand that the British government cancels the upcoming International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) arms fair in late January, as part of imposing a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel.

Arms fairs like IAV are crucial for the UK-Israel arms trade, providing a marketing opportunity for companies producing weapons used to kill and maim Palestinians.

The event will feature dozens of arms companies producing weapons and military technology used by the Israeli military in its genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and military assaults across the West Bank.

Israel uses tanks and other armoured vehicles, like those that will be exhibited in Farnborough, to destroy Palestinian homes, schools and infrastructure, both in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Representatives of the Israeli military have attended previous International Armoured Vehicles arms fairs. Those responsible for committing genocide, and imposing apartheid, should not be welcomed to Britain to do deals with arms companies, instead they should be facing justice at international courts.

The UK government is under a legal obligation to take all available measures to stop Israel’s ongoing genocide, and end assistance to its unlawful military occupation and regime of apartheid.

As part of these duties, the UK government must take action to cancel the upcoming International Armoured Vehicles arms fair, as part of imposing a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel to ensure no UK made weapons, components or military technology are used in its crimes against Palestinians.
